Bain Marie

From George Eastman House : Notes On Photographs

Jump to: navigation, search

A heated water bath. This was essentially a double boiler made by putting one tray of water into another. The advantage of this system was that the upper tray could never boil despite the temperature of the heated tray below. This system was particularly useful for development of albumen plates and for the carbon printing process.[1]
