return to Research from the Andrew W. Mellon Advanced Residency Program in Photograph Conservation at George Eastman House 1999-2009


Abstract

This was a treatment class research project that included both a literature search and some experimental work. Fellows from the 2001 to 2003 program worked in pairs. Adrienne Lundgren and Hanako Murata worked on Beva 371 in both dry resin mix and film form, Jiuan-jiuan Chen and Ivan Lutterer worked on Aquazol 500, 200 and 50. Elena Simonova-Bulat and Fernanda Valverde did Klucil G. Kate Jennings and Sara Shpargel worked on several dry-mount tissues, including Crompton tissue, Seal Buffermount, and Seal Colormount.


Projects looked at the aging characteristics, working properties, reversibility, and pros and cons to each adhesive.
